Quantities can be limited from time to time. Please call for availability. Mushroom Compost is a great product that can be used in any landscape bed, vegetable gardens, fruits, trees, shrubs & lawns. It is a great soil builder to be used on almost anything you plan to grow. It also contains a wide variety of beneficial microbes, bacteria and fungi that benefits the soil. Mushroom Compost can be incorporated into the soil or top dressed on most plants. Please use caution when applying as it is high in available nutrients and all nutrients are in the available salt form even though they are from a natural/ organic source. Before planting, flowerbeds, vegetable gardens, trees, shrubs or fruit trees - we recommend applying at least a 2-3 inch layer of Mushroom Compost on top of your bed and till it in several inches deep. Then plant your plants and water them regularly. If you have plants, that are not doing well, you can top-dress with a 1-inch layer and continue watering on a regular basis. Mushroom Compost is very rich so you do not want to plant directly into the compost. It is only considered non-burning when you incorporate it into the soil, or top-dress existing plants that already have an established root system. For potted plants, take extreme care to only apply a thin layer on top and make sure to have adequate drainage since mushroom compost can be too rich in available nutrient salts and may burn root systems. Make sure and water thoroughly soon after application.
As a growing media, it is advisable to use a 1:3 ratio of a less available material. The wide diversity of nutrient sources is also of benefit to sustainable soil practices. To Learn more please visit: www.mushroomcompost.org Compost Sales - New Pricing Effective October 1, 2009.
